The Insanity of God by Nik Ripken

This book is a much needed dose of reality for Americans. Ripken is a good-ole Kentucky country boy who wanted to change the world for Jesus. He ended up with his wife and 3 boys in Somaliland in the early 1990s, when all governmental structure fell apart and conditions were abominable and made worse by Muslim vigilantes who intimidated and stole any supplies that were made available. After 6 years of virtually fruitless effort from a spiritual standpoint, Ripken was disillusioned.

However, over the next 15 years, he visited 72 countries, including various former USSR satellites, China, and various Muslim strongholds to interview people who were facing unimaginable persecution for the sake of Christ and yet seeing great growth - like the unbelievably flourishing house church movement in China. It's the book of Acts, playing out in our 21st century world.

Don't miss reading this book to see what conditions are really like outside our little cocoon of safety. If you can't find a copy, please see Pastor Dave.
