The Church in Babylon: Heeding the Call to Be a Light in the DarknessThis is a compelling book in which Lutzer first documents the flip-flop of American society in recent years from tolerant of and even favorably inclined toward Christians, to a position of opposition and even hostility toward evangelicals. This is our new reality. It is no longer a matter of what we do to avoid arriving in “Babylon”; it is now a question of how we live as believers in Babylon. Subjects covered include everything from sexuality and gender issues, hostility at work, the subtle danger of technology, the threat of Islam and many others. Lutzer is wonderful in that he identifies issues clearly and honestly, yet challenges us to see God’s hand in everything and to see opportunity for the gospel. What could be a negative diatribe is, instead, a comforting challenge to faithfulness. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
